What software do you recommend for developing content for Altergaze? Are there guidelines available? Thanks -- kim

Hey Kim,

We use Unity, but I guess you can get great results with UDK as well.
It's also good to look into WebGL

Unity is the easy way to go, but if you want it to look perfect you need to shell out for the PRO version, which is costly.

I'm currently working with SceneKit, which isn't that bad (for me) since I've spent so much time writing Port Defender with OpenGL/C++. I have a video of my SceneKit progress for making a VR video player for iOS, I may release some source code after I get my player working. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDrHzPJKsMk&list=UU4UOWZ0W8EhFbDwO1hb4flQ

Hello!

Great to see this going, been in development of a few VR games with Unity Pro,
and really looking forward to mobile VR!

So to get started with Unity,
is there an SDK yet that helps us get the stereoscopic cameras
calibrated for your lens sets?

What is step one to develop for you in Unity?

Can we plug something into our existing VR environments
and select our phone model?

Well, I think the SDK would be a great start, but the trick with the Altergaze will be knowing the correct barrel shader settings to make each device's output look brilliant. You could take a look at the Dive SDK, it's functional. I would strive to hit as many headsets as possible, or allow the option to customize the setting so the user could figure it out.

What I would love to see is a standardized VR Setting file format, so the main Altergaze app could produce this *.vrsettings file which would contain all the basic information for a program to operate, and maybe a fallback settings if the program can't handle everything. After it produces the file,it would, at least for the iOS share it with other programs which can open that file format.
