I started to add more icons yesterday and recolor the button icons, since they were too bright. I also added titles to the chooser based menus, so you will see screen's title and your current position.

I need to post again today, because I just had a decent 20 minute experience in my app during lunch and it went great. I had to cut holes in my Google Cardboard unit though, because it doesn't have a earphone slot, but watching a few music videos with headphones, and a dark background went very well.

Now i'm still sick from a nasty nasal infection, but I was having some strain early on, but I think that was caused by the daylight background, after I switched to a darker space option, I felt much better.

Now I need to enhance the UI a little bit more, for example i'm running out of horizontal space to put icons. Like have options to turn off switch mode, for people without friends, and disable preset access by default on mini player. For most people using a playback type will offer a better and more consistent experience.

My testers have been playing with the App and demanded some changes.

1) The player will now auto hide itself, so it doesn't get in the way
2) The mini player can be moved to the top or bottom
3) Presets can be reset
4) Photo, Video & Panorama presets have been scaled down, iPhone 6 users did not like them.
5) The full player has been turned into more option, mini player is always the default screen.

I'm thinking of adding drift correction to the back-end library, which would do the following.

1) If the user's view is within a specified horizontal angle, maybe 5 degrees each side from the center
2) They haven't moved for some time maybe 3 seconds
3) Start to slowly drift their view back to the center point. Center means the horizontal center, not vertical.

This way if your view was slightly off, you could just stare at the center for a bit and it would just correct itself. If you are looking around, no auto correct. This assumes your head would return to the center point naturally.

If I do implement the feature, it would be off by default since it may be a bit jarring.

Things left to do before release:

1) Add more info to Facebook page
2) Make more videos for YouTube on how to use it
3) Add more auto hide options, like hide to 5%, 10%, 0% or show mini icon, so you know where it is.

Ok, One more test build tonight, weekend testing and hopefully send the App to Apple for approval.

Today's build will be pay wall related.

- All movies can only be played for the first 5 minutes, then it loops.
- UPNP access is disabled.

I submitted the App to Apple for Approval, so it's waiting time.

And now, "how is it monetized." The App is free, but it has a 5 minute limit for video playback. You can view photos for as long as you like. But only the first five minutes of video will play, if you try to jump beyond five minutes, it will reset back to zero and show a notice that premium is required. You can in-app purchase "Premium Edition" to unlock the five minute thing. There is also "Ultimate Edition" which will include all future upgrades such as Password Protected Folders which will be added later.

Premium is Tier 2 ($1.99), Ultimate is Tier 3 ($2.99)

Still working on FullDome, seems like my implementation has issues with certain 3D fisheye videos, will need to resolve.

Latest update:

FullDome is working, SBS 3D content is functional and quite impressive to see running. My testers have mentioned there is an issue with walls not looking straight on the sides, so i'm investigating that, but otherwise its right. And we learned a few lessons, the Left/Right eyes were switched, and that's been corrected. And having your eyes switched creates nasty artifacts. Also for SBS 3D I needed to implement a new feature to reset your IPD to 0, otherwise the edges will look horrible.

The interface has been updated a bit more, so its less compressed.

Message the Facebook page to get the beta.

I'm working on the 1.1 Release Candidate  . The only bug I known of right now is an IPD  saving issue, which will be resolved later tonight. So 1.1 should be sent up Saturday night with 3D Full Dome SBS support.
